Two young men were killed when their motorcycle crashed into a cement-laden truck near the Dhaka Expressway in the Banani area on Sunday morning, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Ashrafur Rahman Ashique, 24, who was riding the motorcycle and Asif Mahmud Sompod, 25, who was on the pillion.
Officer-in-charge of Banani Police Station Md Rasel Sarwar said the accident took place between 9:30am to 9:40am near the Dhaka Elevated Expressway, when the motorcycle crashed into the truck. Both victims died on the spot.
Police seized the truck and detained the helper, although the driver managed to flee the scene, the OC said.
Ashique had recently graduated from a private university and was working with a ride-sharing service, while Asif was a marine engineer, he added.
