The government has increased the monthly “special benefit” for public sector employees, including military personnel, civil servants, and pensioners. The revised rates will take effect from July.
To this end, the Ministry of Finance issued a notification on Monday.
According to the notification, the minimum special allowance for current employees has been raised from Tk1,000 to Tk1,500. For pensioners, the amount has increased from Tk500 to Tk750.
Pensioners receiving less than Tk17,389 will get the special allowance at 15% of their pension, while those receiving more will get 10%.
The revised benefit applies to members of the joint forces, police, autonomous and state-owned bodies, banks, insurance companies, financial institutions, and the Border Guard Bangladesh.
A copy of the notification has been sent to the cabinet secretary, the principal secretary to the Chief Adviser’s Office, the Office of the Auditor General and Comptroller, and all relevant ministries and government departments for necessary action.
