Chief Coordinator of Ganosamhati Andolon Zonayed Saki has called the mob attack on former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda a clear failure of the interim government.
He made this comment at a press conference held on Tuesday morning at the party’s Hatirpool office, ahead of the organisation’s 5th National Conference.
“This mob attack reflects the failure of the interim government. It’s not an isolated incident — such attacks are occurring regularly and are being politically weaponised,” said Saki.
He demanded legal action against those involved in the attack on Nurul Huda, stating, “Those who conducted the 2014, 2018, and 2024 elections and tried to pass them off as free and fair must be held accountable. However, attacking any individual in such a brutal manner and destroying their human dignity goes against the spirit of the mass uprising.”
Saki further warned that legitimising mob attacks and mobocracy will obstruct the country’s democratic transformation. “The interim government cannot afford to fail. They must deliver success,” he added.
Also present at the press conference were Ganosamhati Andolon’s Executive Coordinator Abul Hasan Rubel, Political Council members Dewan Abdur Rashid Neelu, Taslima Akhter, Monir Uddin Pappu, and Editorial Board member Bacchu Bhuiyan, among others.
