Nannu, one of the prime accused in the Mitford murder case, has been arrested by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-11) from Bandar area of Narayanganj.
The arrest was made during the early hours of Tuesday, at around 1am.
Commanding Officer of RAB-11 Lt Col HM Sajjad Hossain said a special team conducted a drive around 2am in Narayanganj’s Bandar area and arrested the accused, Nannu, acting on a tip-off.
Nannu was one of four people seen in a viral video attacking the 39-year-old businessman with bricks and cement blocks eventually leading to his death.
With this, eight people have been arrested in the case so far.
Earlier, on Sunday, two other accused – Sajib and Rajib – were arrested from Dhaka and Netrakona.
They have been put on a five-day remand for interrogation.
The murder of businessman Sohag took place last Wednesday in broad daylight on a busy road in front of Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital in Old Dhaka. Sohag was called to the location by a group of youths known to him, and then viciously beaten with bricks and stones.
His head and body were crushed, and at one point he was stripped and stomped on.
A case was filed at Kotwali Police Station on Thursday in connection with the murder. The victim’s sister, Manjuara Begum, 42, filed the case naming 19 individuals and accusing 15 to 20 unidentified others.
