The Bangladesh national cricket team arrived in Galle on Saturday ahead of their two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, with the first Test set to begin on 17 June at the Galle International Stadium.

The team held their first training session on Sunday, but all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz was notably absent. According to team management sources, the vice-captain is currently suffering from a fever.

Miraz’s availability for the opening Test is now in doubt, with team officials yet to provide a definitive timeline for his recovery. For the time being, his condition is being closely monitored by the medical staff.

Given the traditionally spin-friendly nature of the Galle pitch, Miraz’s off-spin could have proven to be a valuable asset for the visitors. As such, Bangladesh are likely to wait until the last possible moment before making a decision on his inclusion in the playing XI.
