Two more people admitted with burn injuries following the plane crash into Milestone School and College in Uttara have been discharged from the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Besides, four other victims are still in critical condition and remain in the ICU.
Professor Dr Nasir Uddin, director of the hospital, disclosed the information at a press conference on Sunday.
“Today, two people – Kazi Amzad Said (20) and Sabuzar (40) – have been discharged. Amzad was involved in the rescue operation and Sabuzar is an employee of the school,” he said.
Dr Nasir also said that 34 victims are now undergoing treatment at the hospital. Of them, 28 are children. Four of them are in critical condition and are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit.
Nine patients are in the “severe” category, which is slightly less critical. The remaining patients are admitted to general wards. Out of the 34 patients currently admitted, six have burns covering more than 30% of their bodies.
In response to a query, the director also said that unit heads are talking to the admitted patients twice daily and providing them with psychological support.
Dr Nasir also mentioned that several patients are expected to be discharged gradually over the course of the week.
Earlier on Saturday, two students — Ayan Khan (12) and Rafsi (12) — were discharged from the hospital.
