Bangladesh observed a one-day state mourning on Tuesday in response to the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) fighter jet in the Diabari area of Dhaka, which claimed the lives of 31 people and left 165 others injured.
The state mourning was declared by the government following the tragic incident at Milestone School and College on Monday.
As part of the national observance, the national flag was flown at half-mast across all government, semi-government, and autonomous offices, as well as at educational institutions throughout the country.
In addition, special prayers were held at religious institutions and places of worship across the nation, where people came together to honour the departed souls and pray for the swift recovery of the injured.
The tragedy occurred at approximately 1:18 PM when a BAF F-7 BGI fighter jet crashed into the Milestone School and College compound, located in the capital’s Diabari area.
The crash has deeply shocked the nation, with the government responding with this symbolic gesture of mourning to show solidarity with the victims and their families.
