A delegation led by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed condolences to the grieving family of Flight Lieutenant Towkir Islam, who tragically died in a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crash into an Uttara school and college campus on Monday.
The delegation visited the martyr’s family residence in Dhaka Cantonment on Friday afternoon at 4pm.
During their meeting with the bereaved family members, Mirza Fakhrul conveyed the solidarity and sympathies of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, as well as acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
Among those present were the martyr’s father-in-law, his wife Aksha Ahmed Nijhum, and other family members.
The BNP delegation also included Vice Chairman and former Air Force Chief Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, Former Army Officer Major General (Retd) Fazle Elahi Akbar, and Chief Coordinator of the BNP Chairperson’s Security Team Brigadier General (Retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam.
On Monday, Flight Lieutenant Towkir Islam training aircraft crashed into Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Uttara, resulting in the death of at least 33 people and injuring more than 170.
