A 15-year-old schoolgirl, Tasnia, who was critically injured in the plane crash at Milestone School and College in the capital’s Diabari area, died on Saturday morning after a month of treatment.
With this development, the death toll in Milestone tragedy has risen to 36.
She succumbed to her injuries at around 8am while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said Dr Sultan Mahmud Sikder, on duty residential surgeon of the institute.
Doctors said Tasnia had suffered 35 percent burns and had been in the intensive care unit since the incident.
Her father, Nazmul Hossain, said she was a student of Class VIII at Milestone School.
So far, 20 patients have died in connection with the crash, while 14 others have been discharged from the hospital. Twenty-two patients are still undergoing treatment, according to doctors.
On July 21 , a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) fighter jet crashed on the Milestone school campus killing a total of 36 people, mostly students. At least 150 were injured.
