Panic gripped the Diabari area of Uttara shortly after a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) training aircraft crashed into Milestone School and College compound on Monday noon.

Parents, inevitably worried about their children’s safety, desperately waited for news of their children.

With smoke rising from the wreckage, dozens of family members gathered outside the school gates, some praying, some crying, many pleading with law enforcers for help.

“I’m not in a situation to speak,” one mother wailed. “My son is in class 6 – and he is still inside the compound. I don’t know if he’s okay.”

Hundreds of other parents, in similar grips of uncertainty, cling to hope.

Earlier in the day, a BAF training aircraft crashed into the Milestone School and College campus, sparking a massive fire, leading to several deaths and injuring dozens more, according to the Inter Services Public Relation Directorate (ISPR).

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene immediately.
