Midland Bank PLC has promoted Md Nazmul Huda Sarkar to deputy managing director, effective from January 1.
Before the promotion, Sarkar served as senior executive vice president and chief technology officer of the bank, where he led strategic planning, digital transformation and service delivery, with a focus on security and cost efficiency.
He has more than 27 years of experience in technology leadership and has held senior roles in Bangladesh and Japan.
Sarkar previously worked at Mutual Trust Bank PLC, where he played a key role in migrating the bank to a new digital platform, and served in Japan as a senior application engineer at Match.com.
His earlier professional experience includes roles at Fujitsu and Nissan Motor in Japan, as well as IDLC Finance PLC and National Life Insurance in Bangladesh, building expertise in enterprise technology, digital channels and large-scale service delivery.
As chief technology officer at Midland Bank, he was responsible for designing and executing the bank’s technology roadmap, strengthening enterprise platforms and digital channels, and enhancing operational resilience through secure and scalable systems.
Sarkar holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a Master of Science in Electronics and Computer Science from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Sylhet.
Midland Bank PLC congratulated Sarkar on his promotion and wished him success in his new role.
