Met office on Thursday foresees light to moderate rain and/or thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind to remain constant at many regions of the country including a few places over Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions and at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

Moderately heavy to heavy rain is expected at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, a forecast says.

Meanwhile, a spell of early morning rain, due to a low-pressure system extending from West Bengal region to the North Bay of Bengal through south-western Bangladesh, plunged Dhaka into disarray on Thursday, hampering the morning commute and daily activities in one of the country’s busiest cities.

According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), 20 mm of rainfall was recorded in the capital in the morning, as the rain continued relentlessly for around two hours.

In addition to the rain, a mild heat wave is sweeping over Madaripur, Pabna, Khulna, Jashore, Chuadanga, Kushtia, and Satkhira and it may continue.

The day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country.
