Mercantile Bank leads school banking conference 2025 in Netrokona

Mercantile Bank PLC hosted the School Banking Conference 2025 in Netrokona on 28 June, engaging students and educators from 24 educational institutions to promote financial literacy and banking awareness among youth.

The daylong event was held at the Public Hall Auditorium and was organised by Mercantile Bank’s Netrokona Branch in collaboration with the Institutional Liability Marketing Division of its Head Office.

Md. Enamul Karim Khan, director of Bangladesh Bank’s Mymensingh Office, attended the conference as the chief guest. The event was presided over by Md. Abdul Halim, SEVP and COO of Mercantile Bank PLC.

Notable guests included Mohammad Shahjahan, additional director of the Financial Inclusion Department at Bangladesh Bank; Mohammad Emdadul Haque, assistant district primary education officer; and Dipak Chandra, AGM of Sonali Bank’s Netrokona Corporate Branch.

Sunny Md. Shahriar Istiak, deputy director of Bangladesh Bank’s Financial Inclusion Department, also joined the event along with Tapon James Rozario, AVP and head of IMLD at Mercantile Bank; Md. Rabiul Karim, FAVP and head of Netrokona Branch; senior officials, school teachers, students and respected members of the local community.

The conference aimed to encourage savings habits, responsible banking, and financial inclusion among school students, aligning with Bangladesh Bank’s broader agenda of promoting early-age financial awareness.
