Bangladesh off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz has formally submitted a request to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025. The 26-year-old cricketer is seeking clearance to join Lahore Qalandars, a franchise that has already secured a spot in the playoffs and is set to play the Eliminator in Lahore on Thursday.

Miraz’s sudden move comes in light of his omission from Bangladesh’s T20I squads for the upcoming bilateral series against the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan. With no national team commitments on the horizon in the immediate future, Miraz is eligible for franchise duty — provided he secures the green signal from the board.

“Miraz applied for the NOC half an hour ago. Now the board will decide,” confirmed BCB’s cricket operations manager Shahriar Nafees in a statement to *The Daily Star* earlier today. The request puts the board in a decision-making position at a time when player workload management and overseas franchise commitments remain hotly debated topics in Bangladesh cricket.

Should he be granted clearance, Miraz will join Bangladesh’s premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who made his debut for the Lahore Qalandars just yesterday in a high-octane contest against Peshawar Zalmi. Shakib’s addition has already strengthened Lahore’s lineup heading into the knockout phase of the PSL. The arrival of Miraz — who brings with him a sharp off-spin attack and lower-order batting utility — could further bolster the defending champions as they look to salvage a mixed season.

Miraz has previously played in various franchise leagues, including the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), but a stint in the PSL would mark another significant milestone in his T20 career. The off-spinner has had moderate success in the shortest format of the game, but recent performances in the BPL have earned him renewed attention, with several franchises reportedly expressing interest in his services.

However, the decision rests solely with the BCB, who will weigh the implications of his participation in the Pakistan-based tournament. Given the sensitivities around Bangladesh’s cricketing ties with Pakistan, including ongoing security assessments and bilateral relations, the NOC process could involve multiple layers of scrutiny.

For now, Mehidy Hasan Miraz waits in the wings, hopeful that the board will clear his path to Lahore and allow him to showcase his skills on one of the most competitive T20 platforms in world cricket.
