Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been shortlisted for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for April—the first such nomination of his international career.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the nomination on Monday, highlighting Miraz’s standout performances with both bat and ball in Bangladesh’s drawn Test series against Zimbabwe.

“Miraz made telling contributions at both ends of the crease in Bangladesh’s tied Test series against Zimbabwe, earning his first nomination for ICC Men’s Player of the Month,” the ICC said in its official release.

The 26-year-old was named Player of the Series after an impressive all-round display. He claimed 10 wickets in the opening Test in Sylhet—five for 52 and five for 50—before striking a match-winning century (104) in Chattogram and picking up another five-wicket haul to level the series.

Miraz is aiming to become the first Bangladeshi winner of the award since Shakib Al Hasan in March 2023.

Joining him on the shortlist is Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani, who led his side to their first away Test win since 2021. He took three wickets in the first innings in Sylhet before tearing through Bangladesh’s top and middle order in the second with figures of six for 72, earning Player of the Match honours.

New Zealand’s Ben Sears completes the trio of nominees, after a dominant showing in the Black Caps’ 3–0 ODI whitewash of Pakistan, where his rapid spells consistently unsettled the opposition.

The winner of the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award will be decided through a combination of votes from fans and an independent ICC voting panel.
