The surgery of Meghmallar Basu, the general secretary (GS) candidate of the left-leaning Pratirodh Parishad panel in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election has been successful, said doctors of Health and Hope Hospital in Dhaka.
In a media release from Megh’s organization, the Bangladesh Students’ Union, says that the successful appendicitis surgery was performed on Tuesday at 9:00pm at Health and Hope Hospital in the capital, under the supervision of surgeon Dr ABM Khurshid Alam.
Megh is the president of the Dhaka University unit of left-leaning the Bangladesh Chaatra Union. He is contesting as the DUCSU-GS candidate of the Pratirodh Parishad panel. The vote is scheduled to take place on September 9. Just a week before this, he fell ill.
The message from the Students’ Union further stated that Meghmallar is currently under the supervision of Dr. Chandra Shekhar Bala.
For several days, Meghmallar Basu had been experiencing pain in his lower abdomen. Later, on September 1, it was discovered that he had an issue with his appendicitis.
Earlier, in a post on Facebook on Tuesday afternoon, Meghmallar wrote, “The fear has come true. My body has betrayed me. I will have an appendicitis operation tonight. I don’t think I will be able to campaign physically anymore.”
