Kylian Mbappe has dropped his complaint of moral harassment against his former club Paris Saint-Germain, one of his lawyers confirmed on Monday.
Pierre-Olivier Sur, representing the France captain, said: “We are withdrawing our civil action,” ahead of Wednesday’s Club World Cup semi-final between Real Madrid and PSG.
The Paris prosecutor’s office launched an investigation last month after Mbappe accused PSG of mistreatment at the start of the 2023–24 season. He claimed the club excluded him from first-team activities and made him train with players they intended to sell, following his refusal to sign a new contract.
The French players’ union also filed a complaint last year, citing similar treatment of other footballers.
PSG left Mbappe out of their 2023 pre-season tour of Asia and omitted him from the squad for the opening match of the campaign. However, the club reinstated him after holding talks.
Mbappe joined Real Madrid last summer after spending seven seasons with PSG, where he scored 256 goals in 308 appearances. PSG went on to win their first-ever Champions League title following his departure.
Despite withdrawing the harassment complaint, the 26-year-old remains involved in a legal dispute with PSG over €55 million (£46.6m) in unpaid wages and bonuses.
