Manchester United have completed the signing of forward Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford on a deal running until 2030, with the option to extend for a further year, the club announced on Monday.

United are reported to have paid Brentford £65 million for the 25-year-old Cameroon international, with a further £6 million potentially due in performance-based add-ons, according to a club source.

Mbeumo enjoyed a stellar 2024–25 Premier League season, netting 20 goals to help Brentford secure a 10th-place finish — their highest in the top flight. Only Mohamed Salah (29), Alexander Isak (23) and Erling Haaland (22) scored more during the campaign.

“As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams, the team whose shirt I wore growing up,” Mbeumo said.

“My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday. I know that I have the spirit of character to reach another level here, learning from [manager] Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.”

A versatile forward, Mbeumo excelled on the right wing but also impressed when deployed centrally. He was a constant presence for Brentford last season, starting every league match.

He joined the West London club from French side Troyes in 2019, going on to make 242 appearances across all competitions, scoring 70 goals and contributing 51 assists.

“Bryan’s goals and assists record in the Premier League is exceptional — his remarkable consistency has put him amongst the most productive players in England over the past three seasons,” said United’s director of football Jason Wilcox.

“We are delighted to have secured another one of our primary targets ahead of the pre-season tour. The experience in the U.S. will be the perfect opportunity for Bryan to work with Ruben and his new teammates as we prepare for an exciting season ahead.”

Mbeumo is expected to feature in United’s upcoming pre-season fixtures in the United States:

  • 26 July vs West Ham United in New Jersey

  • 30 July vs Bournemouth in Chicago

  • 3 August vs Everton in Atlanta.
