A delegation of Islamist leaders, headed by Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis chief Mamunul Haque, has arrived in Afghanistan at the invitation of the Taliban government.

The seven-member team reached Kabul Wednesday morning, according to a press statement issued by Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis on Thursday.

Other members of the delegation include Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh’s Nayeb-e-Amir Abdul Hamid (Pir of Madhupur), Abdul Awal, Abdul Haque, Habibullah Mahmud Qasemi, Monir Hossain Qasemi, and Mahbubur Rahman.

During their five-day visit, the delegation is scheduled to meet with the Afghan Chief Justice, several ministers, senior religious scholars, and high-ranking Taliban officials.

During the visit, the delegation will meet with the Chief Justice of the Islamic Emirate (Taliban) government, several ministers, senior Ulema, and high-ranking officials to exchange views. They are also expected to directly observe the situation concerning human rights and women’s rights, which has drawn criticism from Western quarters.

The discussions will prioritise strengthening ties between scholars of the two countries, enhancing diplomatic relations, and boosting cooperation in trade, healthcare, and education.

In addition, they plan to visit areas affected by the recent earthquake.
