A luxury Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, belonging to the late former Member of Parliament (MP) Anwarul Azim Anar, was found in the parking area of a multi-storey building in Kushtia city.
The black SUV, reportedly worth several crore taka, was found late Monday night at Safina Tower — an eight-storey building located near the office of the Kushtia Superintendent of Police.
The vehicle bears the registration number “Dhaka Metro-Gha 12-6060.”
According to the police, documents inside the vehicle, along with stickers identifying the car as belonging to a Member of Parliament and a CIP (Commercially Important Person), point toward its association with the deceased lawmaker. Former MP Anar, who represented the Jhenaidah-4 constituency, was recently found murdered in India in a widely publicised case.
Sub-Inspector Swapan of Kushtia Model Police Station stated that, “Upon receiving information about the vehicle, we went to the location. Inside, we recovered official documents and stickers identifying the car as belonging to a former MP and a CIP. Initial indications suggest the vehicle belonged to Anwarul Azim Anar.”
He added that legal procedures are underway, and the vehicle will be seized and brought to the police station as part of the ongoing investigation.
