The low-pressure area over the South Andaman Sea and adjoining areas intensified into a well-marked low-pressure area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman Sea at 6am on Saturday.
It is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify further.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised not to venture into the deep sea till further notice.
