Liverpool have agreed a deal worth approximately £40m to sign Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez. The Hungary international is set to undergo a medical with the Reds next week before signing a long-term contract at Anfield.

Kerkez, 21, has been identified as the top target to strengthen Liverpool’s left-back position as they look for a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson. The Hungarian has impressed during his two seasons at Bournemouth, featuring in all 38 Premier League games for the Cherries in the 2024/25 season. He scored twice and provided five assists, while also ranking second in the Premier League for crosses into the penalty area. His strong performances earned him a spot in the PFA Fans’ Team of the Season for 2024/25.

The Athletic reports that the fee between Liverpool and Bournemouth has now been agreed. Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes, who played a role in bringing Kerkez to Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar in 2023, was also involved in this transfer.

Kerkez’s arrival continues an impressive summer of recruitment for Liverpool, the reigning Premier League champions. The club has already secured the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, while a club-record deal for Florian Wirtz is close to completion. The Germany midfielder is currently undergoing a medical at Liverpool.

The Hungarian left-back will join his international teammate, Dominik Szoboszlai, at Liverpool. His arrival could also lead to departures, with Robertson being linked with a potential move to Atletico Madrid, and Kostas Tsimikas also reportedly a target for other clubs.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth have moved quickly to replace Kerkez, completing the signing of left-back Adrian Truffert from Rennes earlier in the window.
