Litun Jira, a student born without hands or legs, has achieved an extraordinary feat by scoring GPA-5 in all subjects in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination from the science stream. A student of Gopalpur School and College in Manirampur upazila of Jashore, Litun has once again proved that physical limitations cannot stop a determined soul.
Following the announcement of results on Thursday, her family expressed overwhelming joy and shared her dream of becoming a doctor. Known for her unyielding willpower, Litun has consistently demonstrated brilliance in academic and extracurricular activities. In both the Primary Education Completion and Junior School Certificate exams, she had already left a mark, earning a scholarship and the distinction of being the top student in her class. She also gained recognition in cultural activities.
The youngest of two children of Habibur Rahman and Jahanara Begum of Satnal Khanpur village in Manirampur, Litun’s story is one of perseverance and triumph. Despite her disability, she continued to excel, winning accolades at the upazila, district and divisional levels. In both 2023 and 2024, she became the champion of the talent hunt competition at the upazila level. She also won a gold medal in the national children’s competition and sang live on Khulna Betar on January 4 of the same year.
Speaking through tears, Litun’s mother Jahanara Begum recalled her fears about her daughter’s future. “After her birth, I often cried at night, worrying about what a girl without hands or legs could possibly achieve,” she said.
Her father, college teacher Habibur Rahman, requested prayers and support from all to help Litun fulfil her dream of becoming a physician.
