A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Chattogram to Dhaka was forced to return shortly after takeoff on Thursday morning due to a mechanical issue.

Flight BG-148, which departed from Shah Amanat International Airport at 8:37am carrying 287 passengers, landed safely back at the airport at 8:58am after the pilot detected a problem with the aircraft’s landing gear.

According to Biman officials, the flight had originally arrived in Chattogram from Dubai at 7:15am. After a brief stop, it resumed its journey towards Dhaka but encountered the technical glitch shortly after takeoff.

“In the interest of safety, the pilot decided to return to Chattogram,” a Biman spokesperson said.

Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, public relations officer of Shah Amanat International Airport, confirmed that the aircraft landed without incident and all passengers are safe. The plane has been parked at Bay No. 8 for inspection and further action.
