A student of Khulna University was killed and 11 others were injured when a tourist vehicle, locally known as a “chander gari,” fell into a ditch on the way to Sajek in Rangamati.

The accident took place on Wednesday afternoon at Sajek’s Housepara area.

The deceased was identified as Pinky, a student of Khulna University.

Locals rushed to the spot immediately after the incident.

Later, members of the army, police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and residents carried out a rescue operation and sent the injured to Dighinala Upazila Health Complex.

Police said the students had started their journey to Sajek in the morning. The vehicle lost control at Housepara and plunged into the ditch, killing Pinky on the spot.

Sajek Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kanan Sarker confirmed the incident and said the body was sent to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination.
