Police have arrested Md. Shahin, 48, the accused in the child rape case in Ramgarh, Khagrachhari.
The arrest took place around 1 am on Wednesday during a police raid in Nakapa Bazar area. Shahin, son of the late Ledu, is a resident of Nakapa Rasulpur village under Patachhara Union in Ramgarh.
Mohammad Moin Uddin, the acting officer-in-charge of Ramgarh Police Station, stated that the accused allegedly lured a second-grade student with food after she passed by his eatery in Nakapa Bazar on her way home from madrasa. He then took her behind the shop and raped her.
When the child returned home, her mother and grandmother noticed blood on her body and questioned her, leading her to reveal the assault. She was first taken to Ramgarh Health Complex and later referred to Khagrachhari Modern District Sadar Hospital for further medical examination.
Following the incident, the victim’s father filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. Police arrested Shahin, and he is set to be produced in court on Wednesday.
