A court in Dhaka has placed former lawmaker from Dhaka-7 constituency Solaiman Salim on a three-day remand in a case filed over the killing of college student during the July mass uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiak passed the order on Monday after police produced the former lawmaker before the court and sought seven-day remand in the case.

According to the case documents, on July 18, 2024, Khalid Hasan Saifullah, an HSC first-year student of Ideal College in Lalbagh Government Residential Area, participated in anti-discrimination student movement.

He was shot and later succumbed to his injuries.

On August 19, 2024, Saifullah’s father Kamrul Hasan filed the case with the Lalbagh Police Station against 52 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
Solaiman Salim was arrested from the city’s Gulshan area on November 14 last year.
