The interim government has finalised the long-awaited draft of the July Declaration and announced that it will be presented publicly on August 5.
According to a social media post by Shafiqul Alam, the chief press secretary to the Chief Adviser, the draft will be unveiled at 5pm on August 5 at Gonotontro Square in the presence of representatives from all sections who participated in the July uprising.

The declaration, which is expected to outline key political reforms, recognition of the July martyrs, and a transitional roadmap, comes after weeks of intense negotiations among student leaders, civil society representatives, and political stakeholders.
Earlier, Information Adviser Mahfuz Alam had indicated that the government was in the final stages of consolidating consensus for the declaration.
The July uprising, which saw mass student mobilisation and several casualties, has prompted widespread demand for structural change and formal recognition of the movement’s sacrifices.
In his post, Shafiqul Alam stated that further details of the declaration will be shared soon, indicating that the official text may include provisions for transitional justice, constitutional reform, and institutional restructuring.
This announcement marks a significant step in the interim administration’s effort to restore public trust and lay the groundwork for a new political framework following the collapse of the previous regime.
The July Declaration is expected to become a cornerstone document in the country’s democratic transition.
