Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman has said judges’ tendency to accept lucrative positions after retirement affects judicial proceedings and creates conflicts of interest.
He made the remarks on Monday afternoon at the Supreme Court auditorium during the closing ceremony of an internship programme for 25 law students from different universities, jointly organised by the Attorney General’s Office and the UNDP.
Referring to former judge Masdar Hossain, the law minister said, “Some statements on morality do not suit those who allegedly extract money unethically from clients.”
He added that a proposal will be sent to the prime minister on whether each Member of Parliament can be provided with an intern to assist in research work.
Attorney General Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal, the ambassadors of Sweden and Norway, and UNDP representatives were present at the programme.
