Senior journalist and columnist Bibhuranjan Sarker has been reported missing by his family. According to them, he left his home on Thursday morning and has not been heard from since. A General Diary (GD) has been filed at the Ramna Police Station regarding the matter.

Confirming the matter, Ramna Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Tariqul Islam said, “Bibhuranjan Sarkar’s son, Rito Sarker, lodged the GD late Thursday night.

Tariqul mentioned that as his father had left home without his mobile phone, authorities have been unable to track his last known location using technology.

The police are currently collecting CCTV footage in hopes of gaining insight into his whereabouts by analysing his movements. Efforts are also underway to gather more information from other sources.

In a Facebook post on Friday, Bibhuranjan’s brother Chiroranjan Sarker wrote, “My brother, journalist Bibhuranjan Sarkar, left home around 10am on Thursday, as usual, to go to the Ajker Patrika office.

“However, it later became clear that he had not gone to the office or anywhere within his known circles. No one has seen him since. By 1am, he still had not returned home. We could not find him at hospitals, parks, or any other public places. His mobile phone was left behind at home.”

Chiroranjan added, “We are all deeply worried, and a GD has been filed at Ramna Police Station.”
