The joint forces conducted raid at the residence of a retired army official in Lakshmipur Municipality and arrested three individuals with firearms, local weapons, and Yaba tablets on Friday night.
The arrestees were identified as Ahmed Al Maruf Robin, 34, son of Monir Hossain Member from West Lakshmipur village; Ahmed Al Arefin Rimon, 29, and Ehsan Ahmed, 24, son of Toffail Ahmed from the Banchanagar area of Ward 3 in the municipality.
The operation took place at the residence of Colonel (Retired) Majid in Ward -15 at around 11.30pm on Friday night. During the raid, law enforcement personnel recovered two LG pistols, three machetes, five knives, a pistol magazine, two rounds of ammunition, 83 Yaba tablets, one set of army uniforms, Tk 36,000 in cash, four notebooks detailing drug transactions, and a bundle of foil paper used for packing Yaba tablets.
Captain Mohammad Rahat Khan from the Lakshmipur Army Camp confirmed that acting on a tip-off, the joint forces managed to seize a significant number of illegal arms, ammunition, drugs, and financial records related to the drug trade.
The three individuals have been handed over to the police for further investigation.
