Iman Ali, also known as “Iman Dakat,” was arrested with arms and ammunition in a joint operation carried out by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the Army in Meherpur’s Mujibnagar.

The raid took place around 1:00am on Friday at Shibpur village, where the joint team detained Iman, son of deceased Amir Ali. Security officials recovered a foreign-made pistol (USA 7.62), a magazine, and four rounds of ammunition from his possession. He was later handed over to Mujibnagar police.

According to RAB sources, Iman had been under close surveillance for an extended period based on secret information. The operation was conducted after confirmation of his presence, resulting in his successful capture.

Mujibnagar Police Officer-in-Charge Mizanur Rahman said Iman faces a total of 11 cases, including charges related to arms, narcotics, smuggling, subversive activities, and law and order violations. An arrest warrant had already been issued against him in one case. A fresh case under the Arms Act is being prepared before he is produced in court.

Local residents said Iman had long been involved in criminal activities in the area.
