Jobseekers have pressed a demand for publishing the final results of the viva voce for 610 posts under the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE).

The demand came from a press conference organised by the applicants at the National Press Club in the capital on Sunday.

The name of the posts in the four categories are demonstrator, research assistant, assistant librarian-cum-cataloguer and library assistant.

The applicants alleged that the viva examination was held a year ago, but its results are not being published due to the tug-of-war between the Ministry of Education and the DSHE.

They said that the recruitment process for 4,032 positions under 28 categories at the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE), which began in October 2020, remains incomplete after nearly five years.

The written examination for these posts was held in August 2021. Following that, results for 24 categories were published and the recruitment process for those posts was completed.

But the results for the remaining four categories—under the 10th-grade pay scale—faced significant delays.

Despite the viva examinations for these four posts being conducted in May and June 2024, the final results have yet to be published. However, the recruitment process for 3,422 individuals under the remaining 4,032 posts across 24 categories was completed a year and a half ago.

They have joined and drawing regular salaries and allowances for the past one and a half years. Some representatives of job seekers also said, “Practical classes are being disrupted in government colleges due to manpower shortage.”

The vice-chancellor of the National University has repeatedly sent letters to the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education for appointment to the post of demonstrator.

Although the Ministry of Public Administration has given instruction to fill the vacancies quickly, the Ministry of Education is not following that instruction.
