A woman, who sustained burn injuries in a fire that broke out at house in Jatrabari area of the capital earlier this morning, died on Thursday afternoon.
Eti, 30, died while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) at around 1pm.
In the morning, Eti, along with her husband and daughter sustained serious burn injuries in an explosion around 1:40am on Thursday on the ground floor of a six-storey building on Shahid Faruk Road in Jatrabari.
Regarding the others, Resident Surgeon at NIBPS Dr Shawon Bin Rahman said that Ripon, 40, had suffered 70% burns, and his daughter Rafia, less than five years old, sustained 90% burns.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital police outpost, said that the fire might have been initiated after a mosquito coil was lit triggering an explosion reportedly to have resulted from accumulated gas inside the flat.
