A high-level delegation from Japan’s leading trading and investment company Mitsui and Company paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The meeting took place on Wednesday morning at the Prime Minister’s Office under the Cabinet Division at the Bangladesh Secretariat.

During the meeting, discussions focused on expanding Japanese investment in Bangladesh, alongside cooperation in industrialisation, infrastructure development and the energy sector.

The Prime Minister said Bangladesh and Japan share a long-standing relationship built on trust and mutual cooperation. He urged Japanese companies to invest in the country’s special economic zones.

The Mitsui delegation praised Bangladesh’s fast-growing economy, large consumer market and potential as a regional trade hub. They also expressed interest in expanding cooperation in energy, logistics, manufacturing, renewable energy and infrastructure sectors.

Mitsui and Co is one of Japan’s largest trading houses, operating globally across energy, infrastructure, minerals, food, technology and industrial sectors. The company has already established a strong international presence through major investment projects in several countries.
