Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a 36-day extensive programme marking the anniversary of the July-August Uprising.
Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar announced the programme at a press conference at the party’s central office in the capital’s Moghbazar on Saturday.
According to the programme, on July 1, prayers will be offered nationwide for the martyrs, injured and disabled in the July Uprising. From July 2 to 4, food will be distributed among the poor, helpless, distressed and orphans.
From July 8 to 15, meetings, exchange of views and prayers will be held with the families of the martyrs and the injured. Later, on July 16, Jamaat will organise a discussion meeting in Rangpur in memory of martyr Abu Sayeed.
On July 19, a national rally will be held at Suhrawardy Udyan to implement Jamaat’s 7-point plan. On the same day, Jamaat Ameer will participate in the programme of the martyrs’ family.
From July 20 to 24, Jamaat will organise a seminar-symposium to fulfill the main objectives of the mass uprising and the expectations of the masses. From July 25 to 28, a documentary exhibition and cultural programme will be held. On July 29 and 30, a discussion meeting will be held by women and students.
On August 1, the English and Arabic translations of the martyrs’ memorial of the uprising will be unveiled at the national seminar. The photo exhibition organised by the students will continue until August 3.
Jamaat will hold a nationwide mass procession on August 5. From August 6 to 8, discussion meeting initiated by journalists, teachers, doctors, lawyers, engineers and scholars-ulama will be held.
Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Ehsanul Mahbub Jobayer and Executive Council Member Matiur Rahman Akand, were present at the conference among others.
