Jamaat to hold rally on July 19

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced that it will organise a ‘Jatiya Somabesh’ (National Rally) at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka at 2pm on July 19.

The rally aims to press for several demands, including the creation of a level playing field for the upcoming national elections, ensuring free, fair, impartial, and peaceful polls.

Other key demands include the prosecution of all genocides, necessary fundamental political reforms, enactment of the July Charter and Declaration, rehabilitation of the families of martyrs and injured in the July Uprising, introducing a proportional representation (PR) electoral system, and facilitating voting rights for Bangladeshi expatriates.

Marking the rally, a meeting of implementation committee was held at the central office of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at Moghbazar on Thursday, chaired by the organization’s Secretary General and former MP Prof Mia Golam Parwar.

The meeting reviewed the work of various departments of the committee for implementation of the rally and urged the leaders and activists of all levels of the organization and the countrymen to make the rally a success.

Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim, Central Executive Council Member Mubarak Hossain, Ameer of Dhaka City South and North Nurul Islam Bulbul and Md Selim Uddin, Secretaries of Dhaka City South and North Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud and Dr Rezaul Karim, Assistant Secretaries of Dhaka city North Dr Fakhruddin Manik and Md. Yasin Arafat, Assistant Secretary of Dhaka City South Kamal Hossain, were present in the meeting, among others.
