On the first anniversary of the historic July uprising, Jamaat-e-Islami held a mass rally, with thousands of leaders, activists, and ordinary people participating.

The rally was jointly organised by Jamaat-e-Islami’s Chakaria Upazila, Municipality, and Matamuhuri organisational upazila units.

On Monday afternoon, the rally began from Chakaria Municipal Bus Terminal, proceeded around the Chakaria town area along the Cox’s Bazar-Chattogram highway, and culminated in a massive gathering at the Janata Shopping Center premises. During the rally and gathering, Abdullah Al Farooq, Jamaat-e-Islami’s declared candidate for Cox’s Bazar-01 (Chakaria-Pekua) constituency, showcased his electoral position, leading the procession.

At the post-rally gathering, the chief guest’s speech was delivered by Ameer of Cox’s Bazar District Maulana Noor Ahmed Anwari, Jamaat-e-Islami. The keynote speaker was Abdullah Al Farooq, the parliamentary candidate for Chakaria-Pekua constituency and Amir of Cox’s Bazar City Jamaat.

Presided over by Ameer of Chakaria Upazila Maulana Abul Bashar, the gathering’s chief guest, Noor Ahmed Anwari, stated, “A certain class in the country is engaged in widespread extortion. We do not blame any specific party for this. In the upcoming election, the people will reject these extortionists.”

He added, “Every citizen of Bangladesh is honorable to us. Jamaat-e-Islami continues to work to protect the dignity and rights of the people. The country is under an interim government, yet the administration is discriminating by favoring certain parties with special privileges.” He urged the administration to stand with the people instead of siding with any political party.

After the gathering, District Ameer Maulana Noor Ahmed Anwari formally introduced Abdullah Al Farooq as the parliamentary candidate for Chakaria-Pekua constituency.

Keynote speaker and parliamentary candidate Abdullah Al Farooq said, “The core demand of the July movement was to establish a just, equitable, and discrimination-free Bangladesh.” He emphasised, “Without Islamic ideals, it is impossible to build a corruption-free and discrimination-free country.”

He demanded the expansion of the Cox’s Bazar-Chattogram highway to six lanes, the establishment of a public university in Chakaria, a full-fledged health complex in Matamuhuri, and increased manpower and resources at Chakaria Health Complex to ensure 100-bed services. Additionally, he called for declaring Matamuhuri as a full-fledged upazila.

Special guest speeches at the gathering were delivered by Organizational Secretary of Cox’s Bazar District Mohammad Hedayetullah, member of the District Working Council Akhtar Ahmed, and Secretary of District Chhatra Shibir Mir Mohammad Abu Talha.
