Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has expressed deep concern and condemnation over the recent attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel in a statement issued on June 23.
In the statement, he said, “On the night of June 21, Israel and the United States launched a surprise attack on Iran, violating its sovereignty. Such aggression against an independent, sovereign state is a clear breach of international law, norms, and the United Nations Charter. This attack is unjust and illegal, and it has escalated extreme tensions across the Middle East. We strongly denounce this wrongful and aggressive act.”
He further stated, “Recently, during a US Senate Intelligence Committee hearing, US National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard confirmed, ‘US intelligence agencies still believe Iran is not developing nuclear weapons.’ Yet, under the false pretext of Iran’s nuclear weapons program, the US has attacked Iran. This baseless and speculative aggression against a sovereign nation like Iran has shocked the world. Such attacks pose a severe threat to global peace and security and will only intensify conflict in the Middle East.”
“Out of respect for Iran’s independence and sovereignty, we urgently call upon the United Nations and the international community to take immediate action to halt the reckless, unjust, and aggressive attacks by the US and Israel, ensuring peace and stability in the Middle East and beyond,” he added.
