A Narayanganj court on Monday placed former city mayor Selina Hayat Ivy on a two-day remand in a case filed over the death of a rickshaw-puller during July mass uprising.
Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Moinuddin Kadir passed the order following a petition filed by police seeking seven-day remand.
Inspector Kaium Khan, in-charge of the court police outpost, said accused Ivy joined the hearing virtually from Kashimpur Central Jail.
According to the case statement, a rickshaw-puller named Md Tuhin was shot dead on July 20 last year in the Shimrail area of Siddhirganj upazila in district along the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway during protests.
On September 13, his wife Aleya Akhter Mim filed a murder case with Siddhirganj Police Station.
The case named 99 Awami League leaders and activists, including former Narayanganj-4 lawmaker Shamim Osman and Ivy, who is listed as the 11th accused.
On May 9, Ivy was arrested from her city residence.
Law enforcers detained Ivy on May 9 this year from her residence in Deobhogh in connection with that case.
Later, she was sued in several cases, including of murder, in the district.
Earlier on November 13, a Dhaka court imposed a travel ban on Ivy when the Anti-Corruption Commission had been investigating her graft.
