A special compiled episode of the popular Bangladeshi TV magazine show ‘Ittadi’ is set to make a re-run on August 1, on Bangladesh Television (BTV).
Originally filmed 16 years ago in front of the iconic Ahsan Manzil by the banks of the Buriganga River, the episode will be broadcasted at 8:00 pm, following the national TV channel’s Bangla news. As always, the episode is written, directed and hosted by Hanif Sanket.
According to a press release, the episode first aired in August 2009 and was filmed in an open-air setting in front of Ahsan Manzil — a landmark of historical and architectural significance located in the old part of Dhaka’s Kumartuli.
Once the royal residence and administrative center of the Nawabs of Dhaka, the over-a-century-old building is now one of Bangladesh’s most prominent museums.
This episode includes a poignant song about rain, compiled from a segment originally filmed in Tangail during the monsoon season — performed by Samina Chowdhury, written by lyricist Mohammad Rafiquzzaman, and composed and arranged by the late Ali Akbar Rupu.
As always, Ittadi continues its tradition of presenting thought-provoking, socially relevant stories and this edition features a moving report on Banu Akhter — a differently-abled woman from the border village of Dimla in Nilphamari, highlighting her resilience and courage.
Another standout segment focuses on Md Zakir Hossain of Lakshanbaria village in Natore and his unique initiative involving handwritten letters sent with mangoes — a quirky yet heartfelt communication effort.
Also featured is an investigative profile on Abdus Samad Mondal, a dedicated relic collector who has spent half his life preserving ancient artifacts. Additionally, the episode includes an informative foreign report on India’s Taj Mahal, sent from Agra.
The episode will also present satirical drama segments selected from previous episodes of Ittadi, tackling contemporary social issues with the show’s trademark humour. Fans can also look forward to popular segments like Nani-Nati, Mama-Bhagne, the interactive audience segment and recitation of letters from the viewers.
This special episode promises a nostalgic yet meaningful experience for long-time fans and new viewers alike of Ittadi.
