Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC has introduced two specialized savings products to help customers manage marriage expenses and dowry payments. The Mudaraba Marriage Savings Account (MMSA) and Mudaraba Mohor Savings Account offer structured, sharia-compliant solutions amid rising wedding costs.

The MMSA allows monthly savings of Tk500 to Tk50,000 over 3-5 years, with bi-annual profit distributions.

The Mohor Account, designed for men’s dowry savings, accepts Tk500-5,000 monthly deposits with 5- or 10-year terms.

Account opening requires a national ID and photographs, with options for branch visits or digital onboarding through app. Installments can be paid via mobile or internet banking or auto-debit.

With urban weddings now costing over 1.5 million BDT and dowry compliance declining, these products aim to ease financial burdens while upholding Islamic financial principles.

Islami Bank operates 1,300 branches with 14 million customers.
