Islami Andolan, Bangladesh is set to hold a grand rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Saturday, demanding electoral reforms, justice, and the adoption of proportional representation (PR) in national elections.
The rally is scheduled to start at 10am, with both local and central leaders expected to deliver speeches, according to party officials.
The main session is scheduled to commence at 2pm and Islami Andolon Bangladesh (IAB) Ameer and Charmonai Pir Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim will preside over the event. Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim, Senior Nayeb Ameer and Convener of the Grand Rally Implementation Committee, visited the venue on Friday to oversee final preparations.
He informed that in preparation for the gathering, the party has arranged extensive transportation, reserving thousands of buses and coordinating travel by train and launch from across the country.
Organisers estimate that several lakhs of people will attend the rally.
Party spokesperson and Joint Secretary General Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman stated that the rally aims to deliver ‘a new message for the future of national politics,’ signaling the party’s vision for electoral reform and broader political alignment.
He added that leaders from various parties opposed to authoritarianism and supportive of electoral reforms have been invited, with several top political figures expected to attend.
