Police have recovered the body of a 26-year-old Russian national working at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in Ishwardi, Pabna, after he was found dead in his rented apartment. The body was discovered on Saturday evening around 8:00pm in the Jigatala area of Ishwardi.
The deceased has been identified as Karpov Kril, who was employed as an electrician by ESKM Company, a contractor associated with the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project.
According to Afzal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Ishwardi Ambagan Police Outpost, Kril had been living alone in a fifth-floor flat of Dr Anwar Hossain’s building. His family in Russia, unable to reach him by phone on Saturday night, alerted the company’s security officer. Security officer Dobashi Anwarul Islam, along with a fellow Russian national living nearby, forced entry into the apartment. Inside, they found Kril lying face down on his bed. A Russian doctor, Mikhail, later confirmed his death.
Pranab Kumar Sarkar, the additional superintendent of police for Ishwardi circle, noted that initial assessments suggest the cause of death could have been a brain stroke, pointing out that Kril had recently sought treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka. The body was sent to Pabna General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Authorities are awaiting the final report to confirm the exact cause of death.
