Khan Iqbal Hossain has officially taken charge as the Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of state-owned Sonali Bank PLC on 15th July 2025. Prior to his appointment, Hossain served as the DMD at Bangladesh Krishi Bank and Rupali Bank PLC. His appointment to Sonali Bank PLC was confirmed through a circular issued by the Financial Institutions Division on 14th July 2025.
Having started his banking career in 1998 as a Senior Officer at Rupali Bank, Khan Iqbal Hossain brings with him 27 years of diversified experience in the banking sector. Throughout his career, he has held various key positions including branch banking, corporate banking, general banking, and has served as the head of Credit, Operations, Human Resource Management, Risk Management, and the Recovery Department at Rupali Bank. Known for his leadership skills, innovative ideas, and contributions to the SME sector, Hossain has been widely regarded for his visionary goals and collaborative approach.
Hossain holds both a graduation and post-graduation degree in Political Science from the University of Dhaka. Additionally, he is a Diploma Associate of the Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh and has participated in several national and international training sessions, workshops, and seminars. He is a Registered Graduate of the University of Dhaka and a life member of the Dhaka University Alumni Association.
