Jatiya Party (Rowshan) Secretary General Kazi Mohammad Mamunur Rashid has accused the government of remaining indifferent while people suffer extreme uncertainty due to the ongoing lawlessness across the country.
He stated, “The entire nation is gripped with fear as killings, terrorism, rapes, murders, and land grabbing spread nationwide. Yet, the interim government remains apathetic. If this situation continues, the country will head towards disaster.”
He made these remarks at a press conference organised by Jatiya Party at the Dhaka Reporters Unity in the capital on Sunday.
Rashid further added, “Due to the continuous criminal activities, no one’s life or property is safe in the country. The interim government has failed on all fronts. Bangladesh’s international image has also been severely tarnished. To overcome this critical juncture, the army must be given full magisterial powers.”
Emphasising the need for a democratic government to resolve the crisis, Rashid said, “The current interim government must be dissolved immediately, and power should be handed over to a caretaker government to ensure national elections by December.”
He also alleged a conspiracy to turn Bangladesh into a failed state, saying, “Local and foreign malign forces are conspiring to destabilise Bangladesh for their own gains. The same forces are continuously plotting against the Bangladesh Armed Forces.”
Additionally, he warned, “The recent 35% tariff imposed by the US president on Bangladeshi exports is an ominous sign for our trade. Moreover, no foreign investment has come into the country in the last eleven months. The overall economic condition is extremely fragile. Certain quarters want to cripple Bangladesh’s economy through chaos.”
Among others present at the press conference were Jatiya Party Presidium members Shafiqul Islam Shafiq, Khondaker Moniruzzaman Titu, Jamal Rana, Adviser Hafsa Sultana, Joint Secretary General Salauddin Tarun, Organising Secretary Rifatul Islam Pavel, and central leaders Nazmin Sultana Tuli and Azmal Hossain Jitu.
