Ikramul Hasan Shakil has become the seventh Bangladeshi to successfully climb Mount Everest.

He walked over 1,400 kilometers from Cox’s Bazar to reach the world’s highest peak in just 84 days.

Shakil started his journey on February 25 from Inani Beach and reached Dhaka in 12 days. He entered India on March 29 and reached Nepal on March 31. On April 29, he arrived at the Everest Base Camp.

After completing his training rotation, he began his final summit push on May 16 from Base Camp, reaching Camp 2, Camp 3, and finally Camp 4 by May 18. On May 19, Shakil reached the summit and raised the Bangladeshi flag.

His expedition, named “Sea to Summit,” marks a remarkable achievement — walking a longer distance and in less time than the previous record set by Australian climber Tim Macartney-Snape in 1990.

His team confirmed the summit via a Facebook post, stating he is safe and has returned to Camp 4.
