The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) organised the SAFA International Conference 2025 at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka on July 18 with the theme “Reform. Reskill. Reimagine: The Future of Bangladesh Economy”.
The event saw over 600 professionals from SAARC countries, including economists, policymakers, and corporate leaders, engaging in discussions on Bangladesh’s economic outlook.
The conference was inaugurated by Sk. Bashir Uddin, commerce adviser to the government of Bangladesh.
Special guests include Md. Obaidur Rahman, secretary at the Ministry of Industries, and Dr Md Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan, chairman, Financial Reporting Council. Dr. Debapriya Bhattacharya, distinguished fellow at CPD, delivered the keynote address.
Three technical sessions were held, focusing on topics like GDP growth, artificial intelligence, and the evolving role of accounting professionals in a dynamic global economy. The closing ceremony featured Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA, Secretary of the Internal Resources Division, as Chief Guest.
The conference concluded with a cultural program, celebrating Bangladesh’s growing economic role in the global trade landscape.
