The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) renewed their partnership on 18 November in London to strengthen public sector financial management, according to a press release.
The release said both organisations endorsed a shared agenda to enhance professional standards through better training, wider entry pathways and improved membership recognition. It said the meeting also discussed the evolving role of state-owned enterprises, the need to bolster PSFM practices in Bangladesh and joint work on forensic accounting to curb corruption.
According to the statement, the ICAB delegation included President NKA Mobin, Vice Presidents Suraiya Zannath and Md Rokonuzzaman, and Chief Operating Officer Mahbub Ahmed Siddique. They were received by CIPFA CEO Owen Mapley along with senior officials Anna Blackman, Steve Watkin and Anna Howard.
Both institutes said they expect the renewed collaboration to support stronger financial governance and contribute to global professional development, the release added.
