Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has issued a defiant statement on social media, insisting he will never align himself with those he believes have sought to damage his reputation.
In a lengthy Facebook post, the veteran cricketer responded to recent controversies, stating unequivocally that he would not collaborate with individuals who, in his view, are driven by ulterior motives.
“I will never shake hands with you,” Tamim declared. “Those who have pursued me and tried to destroy my image to gain influence — I want to make it clear that I will never join forces with you.”
He also addressed speculation about a possible future role in cricket administration, emphasising that he would only consider such a path if it served the genuine interests of the game.
“If I ever come into cricket administration, it will be through the right means and solely for the betterment of cricket,” he wrote. “Even if that means never being part of the cricket board, I will never join hands with those acting in bad faith.”
Tamim’s comments appear to refer to recent leaks and reports following an internal investigation. He argued that an individual’s personal views had been misrepresented as formal accusations.
“There is a vast difference between being named in an investigation report and being criticised based on one person’s personal opinion,” he said. “That individual had previously made various allegations against me on a television channel. I have never publicly responded to those claims.”
Tamim clarified that the official investigation did not level any accusations against him, nor was he questioned about the matter of alleged information leaks.
“I was not even part of the team at the time. If the investigation committee had seen any relevance, they would have certainly raised the issue or asked me directly,” he noted.
He concluded by urging fans and supporters of Bangladesh cricket to distinguish between speculation and fact, and delivered a firm message to his detractors.
“To those attempting to spin this narrative with dishonest intent — I say again, you will not find me on your side. I will not shake hands with you.”
